Chitwa Chitwa

We left the Marriott for JNB and our flight to Hoedspruit where we met by our driver for the 1h30m drive to Chitwa Chitwa. We arrived in time for lunch, a bit of unpacking and the afternoon game drive departing at 4pm. Our guide was Luka (a white guy) and our tracker was Beth (a black guy). It was Luka's first week as a guide (anywhere) and his lack of experience was made up with his enthusiasm; fortunately Beth was their most experienced tracker and he knew all the road in Sabi Sabi Sands.

Our villa and the overall lodge was excellent. Every day followed the same format - early game drive, breakfast, rest time, afternoon game drive then dinner. The food was good to very good with very good South African wines (and anything else you wanted). Over our 4 days we saw pretty much everything - the "Big 5 (elephants, rhinos, cape buffalos, leopard and of course lions) as well was many others - hippos (the dam whihc the lodge overlooked was "full" of several families of hippos who roamed the lodge grounds at night), warthogs, zebras, all kinds of antelopes, birds, etc.

One of the highlights was sitting around the main lodge pool area or on our villa's terrace and watch all sorts of game coming by for a drink and even a swim.

On the last day we had a morning game drive then left for the 2 hour drive to Camp Junlani.
